Greece is a peninsula on the Mediterranean Sea. It has many islands. It is very rocky and poor for agriculture. The climate is hot and dry, providing little rainfall in winter. Mountain ranges consist of the Pindus Mountains in northen Greece to the Gulf of Patra and also of the more southern Peloponnesus Mountains. About twenty percent is islands.
Western Greece has more lakes and wetlands. The Vikos Canyon is second largest, with the Grand Canyon in first. The highest mountain is Mount Olympus. Rare marine life lives in the waters of Greece.
